Flag Day Celebrated In Our Town

June 15th, 2009 by connieb

About 45 people from our community met at the legion hall on Sunday June 14th to honor our flag. The Oldham American Legion and Auxillary and the Oldham Area Improvement Corporation sponsored a pot luck supper and program. The flag salute along with the poem “I Am the Flag” was read and the songs “Your A Grand Old Flag” and the “Stars Spangled Banner” were sung. It is so good for a community to get together and meet and greet each other. You find out you have a new neighbor and who has been ill ,or just a good hand shake from someone you haven’t seen for a while. I would encourage everyone to get involved in your town or our town. We all come together for a tragedy, find out how good it is to just get together and vist with your neighbor. It isn’t gossip when you are conceerned about those around you. It is only gossip when you make it gossip.

I would encourage all to joiun us for a night of city clean up. We willbe trimming trees picking up debree and helping our friends who aren’t able to do some of their own work. We wil be cleaning on Tuesday June 23rd at 6:30. Please join us for a night of enjoyable work.
