From a Dilapidated Property to a Mess to Lots Ready for Homes

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

It has been a long time coming but we got the Oldham Area Improvement Corporation property cleaned up and it is ready for homes. The OAIC will give the lot to anyone who will build a single family home. You can’t get a much better deal than that.

Oldham Area Improvement Corporation is off and running. Well at least the OAIC has made another step forward in our strategic plan. The house is gone, the foundations are cleaned up and hauled away and the lots are ready for houses. There are a total of 6 lots which it takes 2 lots for a house so we have 3 house lots available for anyone willing to build a single family dwelling. Oh did I mention “FREE” lots available. This will be a major advantage for anyone wanting to build a new home. Lots in Brookings, Madison, Sioux Fall, Watertown and all the other large communities can cost anywhere from $10,000 to $40,000 and even more in some cases. Ours are going to be free to anyone building a single family dwelling. That will level the playing field when it comes to commutes too. Anyone interested in the lots can contact the OAIC or visit the Oldham website and email us.

Oldham Potato Days a Success

Potato Days was a big success again this year. We had several new activities happening including one that has gotten Oldham on the web. We had a remote controlled model airplane show this year. You can check it out on YouTube. Just type “Oldham model airplane show 2008″ in Google and it should take you there. There are three segments of 10 minutes each and you sill see a lot of children included. My grandchildren are in there too!!! It was great to see many people return to the town and got many good comments on our website and the community blog. The link from the website to the blog has been used and we have many who have moved away from Oldham that have been able to keep up on some of the happenings by using the blog. I guess we all need to let that be a lesson on the power of the internet.
